Beatrice Kristi Laus, known professionally as Beabadoobee, is a London-based singer-songwriter who has steadily grown in popularity since the release of her first album in 2018.
Beabadoobee released her latest studio album “Pylon” on Sept. 18.
The album, featuring 14 tracks, continues the singer’s indie-rock production, whilst highlighting the feelings of loneliness and isolation felt on the road.
She was inspired by the electrical towers she passed while on tour, symbolizing her connection to friends despite being thousands of miles away.
The album skyrocketed in popularity, marking another milestone in the singer’s career.
According to Billboard, “Pylon” ranked in the top seven of the overall Billboard 200 album charts, her first ever top 10 ranking.
Beabadoobee brought her “Powerlines” tour to Madison Square Garden on Oct. 5, commemorating her newest album with a performance that blended nostalgic favorites, recent tracks and stage visuals, leaving fans to reminisce every moment.
The concert started with an opening set from shoegaze artist Wisp. The arena was soon filled with echoes, cheers and screams that lasted the duration of the show.
Fans showed their full support, with many seen jumping along to the beat and turning on their phone’s flashlights for nostalgic songs like “Coffee.”
“Coffee” was especially reminiscent as it was the first song ever released by the artist, leaving fans with a feeling of nostalgia as they acknowledge how far she has come.
“I didn’t even realize the concert finished until we got to the last song,” concert attendee Dorian Wan said. “It was such a memorable experience, and I would definitely do it again.”
The concert also brought imagery behind the album “Pylon” to life. One of the most memorable songs performed was “Powerlines.” Beabadoobee opened this song by climbing on top of a miniature pylon on stage and performed the beginning verse above the crowd.
The opening chorus of “Satellite” was sung through a payphone under a lamp post also located on stage.
The use of on-stage props gave fans an unforgettable experience. With a 28-song setlist, Beabadoobee had a wide variety of songs, from mainstream favorites to recent releases; and even teased a couple of unreleased songs, giving fans a glimpse of what may come next.
Her performance at Madison Square Garden marks a huge upgrade from her last tour.
According to Concert Archives, her last tour, “This is How Tomorrow Moves” was performed on Summerstage, a stage of a significantly smaller scale located in Central Park.
The “Powerlines” tour began on Oct. 1 in Connecticut and is scheduled to continue internationally, to Manila, Philippines, in April 2027.
For fans, Oct. 5 was truly a night to remember; fans walked out of Madison Square Garden with memories of excitement, satisfaction and reminiscence. For Beabadoobee, the show is not just a celebration of her musical abilities but rather is a testimony to the milestones she has made throughout her ever growing career.
