The beauty industry gathered at the Javits Center on Sept. 16 and 17 for MakeUp in NewYork 2026. The two-day trade show brought together makeup and skincare brands, formulators and suppliers from around the world.
More than 160 exhibitors filled the floor, spanning formulation, contract manufacturing, packaging and ingredients. Organizers estimated the event would draw close to 4,800 industry professionals over the two days.
The event ran a full conference program covering beauty business trends, innovation, science and culture.
The program was organized into three main tracks, each examining a different angle of the industry.
About 30 speakers took part, including trend forecasters, dermatologists, journalists and brand leaders. Each offered a different perspective on where the market is heading.
The show included the Innovation & Trends Awards. An international jury in Paris first reviewed submissions and selected finalists across categories such as ingredients, contract manufacturing, packaging and accessories.
A separate U.S. jury then named the winners in New York, alongside two additional special awards.
Finalists and winners were displayed together on the show floor throughout the event.
Above Rinaldi Labs’ Watermelon Dew Whip Mark was one of this year’s IT Award finalists and won the Private Label award.
Beauty Talks was also part of the show. About 10 independent experts each gave a 45-minute talk on beauty market trends, covering topics that ranged from developments in the Asian market to North American consumer data.
Cosmetic Executive Women, a longtime partner of the show, hosted its own session and sat on the IT Awards jury.
The organization has supported MakeUp in NewYork, along with its sister shows in Los Angeles and Paris, for almost a decade.
CEW also joined Cosmetic Industry Buyers & Suppliers, which describes itself as New York’s oldest professional beauty network, for a talk marking its 15th year at the event.
The session focused on how the beauty industry has changed over the past decade and a half.
The show floor included additional exhibits beyond the main booths. Raphael Makeup Brushes ran a demonstration space exploring the relationship between how a brush is made and how it is used on the face, with two demonstrations held each day.
A separate exhibit, developed with participating manufacturers, displayed a wide range of cosmetic colors and finishes, from matte to metallic.
The exhibit was intentionally crafted to showcase possibilities beyond typical bestseller palettes.
Seven trend agencies also set up dedicated spaces throughout the venue, representing perspectives from Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
These spaces gave attendees the chance to review trend reports and view curated product selections.
After covering a wide range of programming over the course of two days, the event concluded on Sept. 17 at the Javits Center.
