My time at The Ticker has been a short yet memorable one. I joined The Ticker right before the start of the fall 2024 semester as the business manager. 

This comes after many attempts of my friend and editor-in-chief, Maya Demchak-Gottlieb, convincing me to join the team since our freshman year. I am happy to say she finally succeeded in her goal. 

When I joined The Ticker, I was extremely excited to be a part of the team. I had previously taken a year-long break from being involved with on-campus activities to focus on academic and personal endeavors, and I was ready to be involved on campus again. I was aware of the community feeling associated with The Ticker, but I would have never imagined that I would ever become as close as I have to the people in this organization. 

I have been involved in other organizations at Baruch, but none of them have made me feel the way The Ticker does. I’ve never met as many genuine, kind and compassionate people as I have at The Ticker. Everyone ensures each person feels included and their feelings are heard. Many of the people here are always willing to help, even though most self-admittedly do not understand what I do. 

Being a part of The Ticker has helped me in ways I never imagined it would. It has served as a place of security where I’m able to share my thoughts and somewhat controversial food opinions. 

It has become one of the things I most enjoy about this school, and it is definitely the highlight of my college experience. I have been able to form genuine friendships here, which I never thought I would do given my feelings toward the majority of the people here at Baruch. 

I am very grateful to have been introduced to such a wonderful group of people here at The Ticker.

I’d like to give a special thank you to Maya for always pushing me to do the things I’ve been hesitant about. During my time in college, she has supported me and has been a listening ear. Whether it was her persistent push to join The Ticker or convincing me to pursue my interests, she has always been there for me. 

As I get ready to graduate this semester, I can’t help but be happy that most of my positive memories of college are because of The Ticker.
