Last week Vice President Kamala Harris ventured to take some interviews as she attempted to clumsily build herself a political identity apart from President Joe Biden, all while praying the establishment media could cover her back.
Harris began complaining last week that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was “playing politics” by refusing to take her call to coordinate disaster relief in the wake of hurricanes Helene and Milton. DeSantis responded back confused as to why Harris would reach out in the first place, considering she had never done so before, and, more importantly, isn’t the president responsible for coordinating disaster relief?
DeSantis noted he is in contact with President Biden and got the help Florida needed, which the president confirmed, seemingly undermining Harris.
Harris then appeared on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, which caused backlash on both sides on the political aisle. Harris was accused of insensitivity by choosing to discuss abortion and laugh about men having no laws that “regulate their bodies,” conveniently forgetting the draft or any other law that regulates human behavior for that matter. Meanwhile Americans struggled to get aide in Asheville in wake of Hurricane damages.
Harris later appeared on “60 Minutes” with Bill Whitaker. The appearance sparked controversy after CBS allegedly edited and reframed Harris’ original answer on the primetime release of the interview. This choice calls into question journalistic ethics. CBS has not commented on the issue.
