Baruch College is rolling out a new Transfer Student Success Portal on Brightspace to help transfer students adjust to campus life.
The portal, developed by the Office of New Student Programs and transfer peer mentors, will be available to all students and is designed to make their transition to Baruch as seamless as possible.
Cynthia Guan, a graduate assistant for the Office of New Student Programs, shared details about the portal which will feature five different modules.
These modules are filled with resources and information — from academic strategies to financial aid guidance — all aimed at helping transfer students succeed both in and outside of the classroom.
“We have five different modules: academic success, career readiness, campus resources, getting involved and how to navigate Baruch’s beautiful campus. In addition to these modules, we encourage that you return to this portal every single week to find vibrant videos from your transfer peer mentors,” Guan said.
The portal includes guidance on how to connect with academic advisors, student organizations and other important campus resources, helping students get settled and stay on track for graduation.
By hosting the portal on Brightspace, Baruch is making sure that the new resource can be easily found and is accessible to all students.
Since students are already using Brightspace for their courses, the portal will be available alongside their regular, everyday academic materials.
In addition to the five main modules, the portal will also link to campus services like career counseling and academic advising.
Students can even book appointments directly through the platform.
This makes it more convenient for students to find the help they need without having to hunt for information.
“Within the past three years it’s so tremendous to see that our program has grown over 200%. Every semester we are now able to support over 300 transfer students, and this semester we’re so happy to bring to you the transfer student success portal.” Guan further noted.
With more students enrolling at Baruch every year, the addition of the Transfer Student Success Portal is a resource that will help them adjust more easily.
For further guidance and resources, students may visit the Office of New Student and Family Programs located in the Newman Vertical Campus Suite 5-205.
