The New York Knicks have become one of the most dominating storylines of the 2026 NBA
Playoffs after their series-defining sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers. Blowout victories in their first
and final games of the series winning 137-98 at Madison Square Garden and 144-114 on the road in Philadelphia have placed the Knicks toward the top of the league’s playoff standings.
Led by first-year head coach Mike Brown, the Knicks have excelled with its main starting five
and most trusted bench contributors.
Star guard Jalen Brunson has led the team with 27.4 points per game and resurgent center Karl Anthony Towns trekked the team with an average of 10 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. OG Anunoby, who suffered a hamstring injury in the series but is expected to be healthy for the Eastern Conference Finals, propelled the Knicks with 1.9 steals per game as well shooting 53.8% from three-point range.
Contributions came from all over the roster, including Josh Hart, who averaged 10.3 points
and 9.0 rebounds, and Mikal Bridges, who averaged 13.0 points. Miles McBride, who filled in for
Anunoby, filled the gap in the line- up, shooting 44.9% from beyond the arc.
The Knicks are back in the Eastern Conference Finals for the second consecutive season after last year’s heartbreaking loss to the Indiana Pacers under former head coach Tom Thibodeau.
A rejuvenated and cohesive Knicks squad has awoken the mecca of New York and its fan base.
With a week of rest, a team firing on all cylinders and the hope of full health, the Knicks are one step closer to capturing the desirable championship trophy.
The Knicks will face the winner of the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers series. A championship-starved fan base is right behind this 2026 Knicks team, who are eight victories away from achieving that ultimate glory.
Next stop: the Eastern Conference Finals!
