Baruch College will be operating remotely on Feb. 13 due to an unexpected winter storm that has put New York City and Long Island under a winter weather watch.

All classes will be conducted remotely. “Business operations” will also be remote, but essential staff are expected to work as scheduled.

Baruch announced the modality shift on Feb. 12 at 2:15 p.m. in a post on Instagram. Email and text alerts were released in batches.

Around 12 p.m. New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that all New York City public schools would be closed and that instruction would be conducted virtually.

Rain is expected to begin Feb. 12 and a mix of rain and snow is expected to continue into Feb. 13 morning. Snow is expected from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Feb. 13, NBC New York forecasted.

The five boroughs are expected to get 8 inches of snow.
