The Baruch College Bearcats continued action in a not-so-busy week, with men’s soccer, women’s tennis, women’s volleyball and both men’s and women’s cross-country playing this week.

Men’s soccer

The men’s soccer team continued its hot streak from the past few weeks against the City College Beavers and the Lehman College Lightning.

The men kicked off action on Oct. 12 versus the Beavers, where the Bearcats secured the win in a low-scoring game, 1-0.

The sole goal scored came from Jemali Zarnadze on an assist from Kosi Mbadiwe in the 14th minute of action. Goalie Kellen Sela recorded seven saves in the outing.

Many yellow cards were handed out this game, with four on the Bearcats and two on the Beavers.

The men followed up with a big victory versus the Lehman College Lightning on Oct. 15, winning 4-2.

Zyde Nawabi scored the Bearcats’ sole goal in the first half, when the Bearcats trailed 2-1. But the second half was all Bearcats, as Jonah Corney, Daniel Grishin and Arman Celebi each scored a goal to get Baruch the win. Sela recorded four saves on the outing.

The Bearcats look to remain undefeated in the CUNY Athletic Conference on Oct. 19, where the men will play the York College Cardinals.

Women’s tennis The women’s tennis team continued its excellent play this week, beating the Lehman College Lightning, York College Cardinals and Manhattanville College Valiants to rise to an overall record of 9-1 and a perfect 4-0 in the CUNYAC.

The Bearcats dominated the Lightning on Oct. 11, with the women winning all their matches to complete a 9-0 sweep.

The team then routed the Cardinals in similar fashion on Oct. 12, sweeping their matches 9-0. The women swept all three doubles matches, 8-0, while no singles set had a margin of victory lower than five.

Finally, the team played the Valiants in a slightly more competitive outing on Oct. 16, winning 7-2.

The Bearcats swept the doubles matches, led by the pairs of Ava DeGuzman and Esther

Benjamin, Regina Kelley and Erica Sheludenko and Stephanie Tapia and Alejandra Cardenas.

The Bearcats, however, fell in two of their singles matches, but the team ended up winning the necessary matches en route to a 7-2 win.

The team will look to continue its dominant stretch this week as the Bearcats end their regular season, with a CUNYAC matchup with the Hunter College Hawks on Oct. 18.

Women’s volleyball

The women’s volleyball team had only one game this week, where the women fell to the Hunter College Hawks, 3-0.

Julia Perkowski led in kills for the Bearcats, posting eight. Amina Muminovic led in assists with 18, while Anesa Feratovic claimed two aces.

The Bearcats will look to get back to their winning ways in their next game versus the City College Beavers on Oct. 18.

Cross-country The men’s and women’s cross-country teams competed hard at the St. Joseph’s College of Long Island Invitational on Oct. 15, with the men placing fourth out of 20 competitors and the women placing 12th out of 19, a bounce back from a difficult weekend on Oct. 8.

Daniel Sedgh, Riley Waltz and Jose Perez led the way for the men, placing 12th, 14th and 18th, respectively, recording times of 29:39.7, 29:47.00 and 30:10.1.

On the women’s side, Jillian Killian led the Bearcats, finishing 49th and recording a time of 25:59.6, her personal record.

Both teams will get some time to rest, as their next competition is on Oct. 30 at the CUNYAC Final in Van Cortlandt Park.
