My journey to The Ticker was a long one. I first became involved during my freshman year as a writer.
Throughout my college experience, I joined many clubs to figure out what I truly enjoyed and where I felt I belonged. I remember walking into The Ticker’s office simply to meet new people and learn more about the organization. What started casually became much more meaningful.
At the time, I was involved with Undergraduate Student Government as the Chair of Appeals, where I would see The Ticker’s previous business manager during monthly Board of Directors meetings, when clubs request funding from the surplus budget. Through my friends at The Ticker, I became more familiar with the staff. Eventually, I found myself spending more time in The Ticker’s office, surrounded by people I really connected with.
I love learning new things, and I wanted to discover more about what Baruch offered. Thinking about what new position and organization I wanted to pursue. I decided to interview for the role of business manager. I still remember the questions from that interview, and I walked out feeling confident that I gave it my all. By my senior year, I officially joined The Ticker’s e-board as its business manager.
Today, I can proudly say that The Ticker became my second home.
Supporting people in The Ticker also meant supporting the students of Baruch College and the values I believe in. It meant helping students feel heard, represented and connected to their community.
Whether through the newspaper filled with students’ articles, the yearbook capturing unforgettable memories or events that brought seniors together, being part of this organization allowed me to contribute to something bigger than myself. It was truly a blessing to support students through such an important chapter of their lives.
Thank you to Reagan Rawner for helping me out during my early stage of being the business manager. Thank you to Joonwoo Kim for picking up food orders when I didn’t feel well or when it was too cold outside. Thank you to Malika Nazar for being an amazing friend and keeping me motivated. Thank you to Assaf Bitton for supporting me in a new journey that I was so scared about.
Thank you to everyone in The Ticker for being amazing and working hard every single day.
I’d like to give a special thank you to Irza Waraich, my officemate and now one of my closest friends. Thank you for your constant support throughout a year where we were both trying to figure out our own paths. I know this is only the beginning of an amazing journey for both of us, and I cannot wait to see where life takes us next.
