The Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13, securing the Vince Lombardi trophy. The Seahawks wasted no time during the first quarter, with quarterback Sam Darnold throwing a 23-yard pass to wide receiver Cooper Kupp into the red zone. This set Jason Myers up to make a 33-yard field goal, giving the Seahawks a 3-0 lead. Both teams went back and forth for the rest of the quarter, unable to add any points on the board.
In the second quarter, Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III came up huge with a 30-yard run. A couple of plays later, Walker completed a 2-yard run that put the Seahawks in scoring position, where Myers hit another field goal, setting the score 6-0.
With two quarters finished, the Patriots were still unable to string together any major running plays against the Seahawks defense. A third field goal by the Seahawks would give them a 9-0 lead heading into halftime.
During the third quarter, the Seahawks continued to dominate the game by scoring yet another field goal, putting the Seahawks up 12-0.
The fourth quarter started with a 16-yard pass touchdown from Darnold to tight end AJ Barner, the first touchdown of the game. The Patriots finally got on the board with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Patriots quarterback Drake Maye to wide receiver Mack Hollins, making the score 19-7. The Seahawks would respond with a 26-yard field goal, extending their lead to 22-7.
The Patriots’ momentum ended with an interception from Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, leading to a touchdown. In a last ditch effort, the Patriots would score one more touchdown thanks to running back Rhamondre Stevenson, making the final score 29-13. The Seattle Seahawks are the Super Bowl 60 champions, with the most valuable player awarded to Walker. This is their first win since 2014.
