Every National Football League franchise team has only one goal in mind, which is to win the Super Bowl. After six weeks of the season, some teams have stood out, others have disappointed and a few have come as surprise contenders to win Super Bowl LX.
Last year’s champion, the Philadelphia Eagles, is still one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl again. After six games, they have the same 4-2 record as last year, and they continue to use their unstoppable play: the tush push.
This year, they struggled during the six games. Only three teams have fewer passing yards than the Eagles this season, according to ESPN. Running back Saquon Barkley has 3.4 yards per carry, which is the second lowest in his career. However, if they can find their form from last year, the Eagles will be in contention to win Super Bowl LX.
Last year’s runner-up, the Kansas City Chiefs, is in the conversation about winning the Super Bowl. This season might be a worse start for the Chiefs with a 3-3 record, but there are signs that this record will improve. Their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is back to playing at his best with a quarterback rating of 76.2, compared to last year’s 64.6, and a paints above average of 21.7, second in the league behind Dak Prescott.
The odds favorite to win after six games are the Buffalo Bills, tied with the Chiefs. One of 12 teams to never win the Lombardi trophy, the Bills are expected to fight for the trophy with last year’s MVP, Josh Allen. The Bills sit with a 4-2 record and rank third in net yards per game and fourth in total points.
A dark horse to win the Lombardi this season is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The odds of the Buccaneers winning the Super Bowl are 18-1.
This season, Tampa is one of only two teams that are 5-1, the other being the Indianapolis Colts. This is despite injuries to key offensive players such as Mike Evans, Bucky Irving and Chris Godwin Jr.
Two of the main reasons that these injuries have not bothered them are quarterback Baker Mayfield and Rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. Mayfield is fourth in passing yards with 1,539 and fourth in touchdown passes.
He is currently the second favorite to win the MVP behind Mahomes, according to CBS News. Egbuka has impressed when the other main receivers are out injured. He has picked up five touchdowns, 469 yards and 42 targets so far in his rookie season.
Even though these teams are some of the favorites to win now, a lot can change with 12 weeks remaining, such as injuries or trades. Other notable contenders to win the Lombardi in 2026 are the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams and the Indianapolis Colts.
