The Minnesota Twins delivered one of the most dominant performances of the 2026 spring training schedule, overwhelming the New York Yankees 15-0 in a seven-inning matchup at the George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.
Twins’ offense erupted for 16 hits and 15 runs while its pitching staff limited the Yankees to just two hits, showcasing the Twins’ depth and balance throughout the lineup.
The performance sent a clear message early in spring training: Minnesota’s lineup is ready to produce and its pitching staff can shut down strong competition.
The scoring began in the second inning when Tristan Gray doubled to right field, driving in James Outman for the game’s first run.
The Twins extended their lead in the third inning as Luke Keaschall launched a 395-foot solo home run to left-center, giving Minnesota a 2-0 advantage. Keaschall, who had already shown consistent hitting in spring training, quickly became the focal point of the offense. Twins applied further pressure in the fourth inning.
After Ryan Kreidler reached base, Keaschall delivered an infield single that became two runs when a throwing error by Yankees shortstop Ryan McMahon allowed both runners to score, pushing the Twins’ lead to 4-0.
The combination of solid hitting and opportunistic baserunning highlighted the Twins’ ability to turn small mistakes by opponents into big results.
The fifth inning marked a critical surge. Outman blasted a two-run home run to right-center field, scoring Matt Wallner and extending Minnesota’s lead to 6-0.
Later during the inning, Noah Cardenas singled to bring home a run and Keaschall followed with another two-run single, bringing the score to 9-0.
By this point, the Twins had completely seized momentum and every at-bat seemed to produce runs.
In the sixth inning, Minnesota effectively put the game out of reach. Cardenas singled to drive in two more runs and Gabriel Gonzalez capped the inning with a two-run double, extending the lead to 15-0.
The Yankees were left unable to mount any sort of counterattack against a dominant Twins offense.
On the mound, Taj Bradley earned the win, allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings while striking out three.
Relievers Kody Funderburk and Eric Orze finished the shutout, combining to hold the Yankees scoreless for the final three innings.
Their command and efficiency gave Minnesota’s hitters the confidence to swing freely and maintain relentless pressure.
With the victory, the Twins displayed a balanced combination of power hitting, clutch hitting and reliable pitching, improving their spring training rhythm.
Meanwhile, the Yankees struggled during every phase of the game and will look to regroup after one of their most difficult preseason outings.
Minnesota’s statement wins highlight both the team’s depth and the potential for a strong start as the regular season approaches.
