Nicki Minaj publicly declared herself as President Donald Trump’s “number one supporter” at the recent Treasury Department’s Trump Accounts’ summit. Minaj has publicly advocated for Trump online, prompting fans to question her recent political actions.
Following the summit, Minaj posted a photo of a Trump Gold Card to her social media, noting she received it “free of charge.” The Trump Gold Card is a premium high-net worth card part of a new immigration program offering a faster path to U.S. residency.
The Gold Card alone was known to cost over $1 million, not including the $15,000 processing fees, which sparked conversation in the media. However, it was later clarified by a White House spokesperson that it was not a legitimate visa document, but a memento.
Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, better known as Nicki Minaj, is a rapper, singer and songwriter known for producing songs such as “Starships,” “Anaconda” and “Moment 4 Life” featuring Drake. In 2026, she took a pause on her music career and became more involved in Trump’s campaign and federal policy.
Minaj publicized her political beliefs, saying, “I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change. The hate, or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more.”
Minaj was a headlining guest at the U.S Treasury Department Summit on Jan. 28, assisting in the official launch of “Trump Accounts.” This new program is a tax-advantaged investment account for U.S. citizen children born between 2025 and 2028, which the government would provide them with a $1,000 “seed” deposit.
Minaj’s attendance was primarily to announce her major donations intended to fund the children of her fans while encouraging parents to sign up using the new IRS Form 4547.
The Trinidadian-born rapper expressed support for Trump by pledging $150,000 to $300,000 toward his new Trump Accounts.
In addition to attending the summit, Minaj partook in an interview with political commentator Erika Kirk during a Turning Point USA event, further expanding her political presence.
According to The Hill, Minaj told the crowd, “He has, I don’t know if he even knows this, but he’s given so many people hope that there’s a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with your head held high and your integrity intact. He’s from Queens, New York, like me.”
While Minaj paved a way for herself to find citizenship and continued her mission to help her fans, many have questioned her rebrand compared to her past political statements.
Earlier in her career, she used her platform creatively for music, celebrating a queer fanbase, engaging with fans through world tours and maintaining a popstar persona.
When politics were involved, Minaj was often seen commenting on social issues, embracing her immigration status, but she never made her identity political. Now she has taken off into the political realm by sharing her stances, advocating for the Trump administration and having a more political voice in the media.
