The 68th Grammy Awards were presented on Feb. 1 in Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles to celebrate last year’s music. The annual award show was full of musical performances, as well as political messages condemning the actions of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Trump administration.
Comedian Trevor Noah returned for the sixth and final time to host the Grammys. He made plenty of jokes aimed at President Donald Trump throughout the night.
“That is a Grammy every artist wants, almost as much as Trump wants Greenland,” Noah said, “which makes sense because Epstein Island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
After the show, Trump shared his opinion about the Grammys on Truth Social, where he said the award show was “virtually unwatchable” and claimed he has never been to Epstein Island. Later in the post, he hints that he will take legal action against Noah over his statements. “It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$,” Trump said. “Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”
Noah also directed a joke at Nicki Minaj’s recent visit to the White House. The comedian said, “Nicki Minaj is not here, she is not here,” which was met with loud cheers. He proceeded to joke that Minaj and Trump discussed who had the biggest butt at the White House.
Minaj responded to Noah’s joke on X. “Trevor refuses to come out the closet when everyone in the industry know his boyfriend. Allegedly,” Minaj said.
Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny won the Grammy for “Best Música Urbana Album” and “Album of the Year” for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” He dedicated his speech for Best Música Urbana Album to Puerto Ricans and shared his thoughts on ICE.
“Before I say thanks to God, I’m gonna say ICE out.” Bad Bunny said, “We are not savages, we are not animals, we are not aliens, we are humans and we are Americans.”
Billie Eilish won “Song of the Year” for “Wildflower.” During the acceptance speech of her 10th Grammy win, Eilish took her time to talk about immigration in the U.S. “No one is illegal on stolen land,” Eilish said. “F*ck ICE is all I wanna say.”
Notably, Sabrina Carpenter, who spoke up about ICE using her songs for TikTok posts, was cheering Eilish on after her statements.
British singer Olivia Dean won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. In her acceptance speech, Dean said, “I want to say I’m up here as a granddaughter of an immigrant.” She continued, “I’m a product of bravery, and I think those people deserve to be celebrated.”
At this year’s Grammys, Kendrick Lamar became the most decorated rapper in Grammy history. He finished the night with 27 Grammy wins in total, beating Jay-Z’s 25.
Lamar won five Grammys this year, most notably “Record of the Year” for his song “Luther” with SZA. This was the second consecutive “Record of the Year” win for Lamar, who last year won the award for “Not Like Us.”
K-pop was displayed and awarded for the year the genre had in 2025. K-pop idol Rosé opened the Grammys by performing her song “APT” with Bruno Mars. The duo performed a pop-punk version of the song with Mars playing an electric guitar.
Other notable performances were Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and the medley performed by every nominee for “Best New Artist.”
