From media to music, Jaden Smith has just about explored it all. Now, he’s stepping into the fashion world.
On Sept. 17, Smith was officially announced as the new male creative director at Louboutin. The sudden revelation generated over $5.4 million in media impact over the course of 48 hours.
Smith, an American actor and rapper, is mainly recognized as the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Throughout his acting career, he has gained a numerous amount of support from his followers and then expanded into entrepreneurship.
In 2011, Smith launched his gender-neutral clothing line, MSFTSrep, alongside his sister Willow Smith, Moises Arias and Mateo Arias to honor his ideals and bring a new approach to fashion.
“We want to begin to set trends within the fashion industry, the way Elon Musk has done in the electric car industry,” Jaden Smith said.
He continued his sustainability stride in 2015 when he cofounded his company JUST water. which aims to highlight the importance of using plant based renewable materials.
He also took on the music industry releasing his first album in 2017, “SYRE.” He has also collaborated with artists such as Justin Bieber and Nicky Jam.
Building on his journey through music, fashion and entrepreneurship, Smith’s newest role isn’t traditional. It emerged from a connection with the well-known designer Christian Louboutin, who was captivated with Smith’s style and spirit.
Louboutin mentions that his idea happened when he was swimming laps in his pool. He vividly remembers Smith coming up to him in 2019 to introduce himself. They continued to cross paths throughout the years, often having engaging conversations.
Their conversations always seemed never ending, “a back-and-forth volley of ideas that never seemed to run out of energy.” This connection between the two gave Louboutin the confidence to make their encounters more formal. Inspired by their connection, Louboutin took a bold step by appointing Smith as the first men’s creative director in his fashion company.
In a recent interview, Smith mentioned he was nervous at the start, but Louboutin made him feel welcome and taught him all he needs to know. “When he reached out to me, I was just blown away, because of how similar we are and how much we like to do things in a similar manner,” Smith said.
Now embracing his new role, Smith is set to oversee the creation of four annual collections, men’s footwear, leather goods and accessories. His responsibilities go far beyond designing as he will also lead campaigns and plan high profile events. Notably, this role was previously held by Louboutin himself, making Smith’s appointment historic.
Smith’s debut collection is set to be revealed during Men’s Fall/Winter 2026 Paris Fashion Week in January 2026 and is set to be in stores in May 2026. As Smith takes on this role, the fashion world watches with anticipation, eager to see his unique take on luxury menswear.
