The Spanish reality show, “Temptation Island,” has spiked in popularity internationally on social media thanks to the viral “Montoya, por favor!” moment. Fans and viewers are intrigued by the adulterous drama between contestant Montoya and his girlfriend Anita. 

Montoya’s reaction to events throughout the show seems to strike some as surprising and dramatic, but his theatrics have set the internet ablaze. 

“Temptation Island” is a reality show where couples are taken to a tropical island and separated to test their loyalty.  

There are typically two houses, one for men and one for women. Each house is filled with attractive single candidates to tempt the contestants and influence them to cheat. 

Montoya and Anita were interviewed for the show and were asked intimate questions about each other to confirm their relationship. “Temptation Island” staff have been plagued with fake couples wanting to be on the show for fame.  

However, they were described as a “very special couple” according to Deadline. This was before events turned, as Montoya later had to witness his girlfriend cheating on him live. 

His reaction was described as the same agony that sports fans feel during a devastating loss, according to Tribune UK. Montoya and the show’s host, Sandra Berneda, watched a live taping of Anita getting intimate with a tempter in the girls’ villa, which struck an intense reaction out of Montoya.  

He screamed in agony, gripped his knees, and sped off running on the beach in an attempt to confront the cheating by running to the opposite house. According to the show, this is against the rules.  

He begins to be reprimanded until Anita realizes he is at the house and runs out. They get into an argument, which later results in her begging for his forgiveness. 

Watching Montoya run across the beach screaming as Berneda calls out for him to stop amused the internet enough to make clips of the scene viral. This is where the “Montoya, por favor!” originated. The clip first went viral on Twitter, with people immediately using screenshots of  

Montoya in agony while quoting Berneda. TikTok videos began to flood For You pages, with memes created from huge companies like La Liga Sports, RedBull Racing, and Prime Video España.  

Viewers have also made their own twist on Montoya running, recreating the intense affair in games such as Animal Crossing and Tomodachi Life. 

Montoya has become a new icon and reference in internet culture. He has thanked fans on his social media for their support as viewers anticipate the finale. 

“Temptation Island” Spain is currently on episode 12, with seasons typically ending on episode 14. Montoya and Anita are reportedly still together after the show; however, nothing is confirmed.
