Former President Donald Trump has begun selling $100 “Trump Coins,” which are 1oz silver medallions that he notes are a testament to American resilience and strength.
The former president took to Instagram on Sept. 21 to introduce his new personalized coins that feature his face on one side and the White House with his signature on the other.
According to the New York Post, the coins are .999% fine silver and are being sold for more than three times the current market value price of silver, which is about $32 per oz.
Realtrumpcoins.com states that the medallions are not political and have nothing to do with any political campaign.
Despite this, Trump’s ‘non-political’ merchandising was launched amid campaign spending disparities between him and his opponent Kamala Harris.
According to campaign finance filings done by Politico, the Harris campaign spent three times as much as Trump’s campaign did in August, yet Harris entered August with more money, while Trump’s campaign spent more than it had raised.
Additionally, the former president’s expenses have more than doubled since August, leaving room for speculation. The non-legal tender is added to the myriad of other merchandise including a ‘Never Surrender High-Top’ sneaker,’ $60 ‘God Bless the USA’ bibles, Trump NFTs and playing cards.
147 limited edition watches called the ‘Trump Victory Tourbillon’ are also being sold at the price of $100,000, in a reference to Trump’s goal of being the 47th president of the U.S.
After purchasing a Trump coin, supporters can expect to receive it in a custom felt bag along with a certificate of authenticity. All sales are final and non-returnable after processing on the website, which is sold out as of Oct. 8.
“Trump Coins are designed by me and minted right here in the U.S.A.,” Trump said in a video statement that was posted to Truth Social.
“This beautiful, limited-edition coin commemorates our movement, our fight for freedom, prosperity and putting America first, we always put America first,” Trump continued.
