Nvidia Corp. and Accenture PLC announced an expanded partnership on Oct. 2 to rapidly scale the adoption of artificial intelligence in the world’s largest corporations.
The collaboration seeks to leverage Nvidia’s expertise and Accenture’s consulting capability to revolutionize how enterprises adopt generative AI. With the launch of a new Nvidia business group, Accenture has committed to training 30,000 professionals on Nvidia’s technology to help clients reinvent processes and seamlessly integrate AI into their operations.
“The first wave of AI is modernizing all of the world’s data centers, and a lot of our focus has been on the cloud, data centers and such,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on CNBC Television. “What we’re looking at now is the beginning of the next wave of AI, the biggest wave of AI, and this is really about companies around the world using AI to be more productive, as well as using generative AI to revolutionize the way they build their products and the products they build.”
Nvidia is a leading supplier of AI chips and hardware, with tech giants like Microsoft Corp. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google relying heavily on Nvidia’s chips for their AI systems. As large corporations invest tens of billions of dollars in building new data centers and AI tools, analysts are concerned that these investments have yet to produce meaningful financial returns.
“You’re seeing lots of spending to build the tools and develop evermore advanced models, but it’s taking longer than expected to materialize into actual growth and margin improvement at the companies buying these tools,” CNBC’s Deirdre Bosa explains on a segment of TechCheck. Bosa added that Huang seeks to promote the adoption of AI tools while ensuring that the billions spent will lead to significant revenue.
Nvidia is meeting expectations by introducing various software and services designed to enhance the impact of generative AI for a wider range of customers. The company launched a similar initiative with consulting firm Infosys Ltd. in September 2023, training 50,000 experts in Nvidia’s technology. However, investors are still eager to see any results from this partnership over a year later.
Accenture has already made significant investments in generative AI, with the launch of its AI Refinery platform, which was created using Nvidia’s technology in July. The new partnership, however, must achieve greater success to establish Nvidia’s value beyond producing AI hardware and prove its ability to deliver tangible results through enterprise solutions.
As companies race to implement AI in everyday operations, the success of initiatives like this will be crucial in determining how quickly the technology can transform industries and whether companies can successfully implement AI.
While uncertainty around the full economic impact of generative AI continues to grow, experts remain optimistic. They believe that partnerships like Nvidia and Accenture will be pivotal in advancing AI adoption and accelerating the timeline for these technologies to impact corporations.
“One of the big issues that hasn’t been discussed yet is the pitiful use in the enterprise of AI. I think we’re 18-24 months, current course and speed, to start seeing that hockey stick,” Moor Insights & Strategy CEO Patrick Moorhead said on CNBC. “This is a deal that could potentially make that happen, maybe it shaves off time, and I’m optimistic about this deal that it will.”
