Apple launched the iOS 17 software update on Sept. 18. Major updates have been made to communication applications like Facetime, iMessage and Airdrop. iOS 17 makes connecting with friends easier while amping up the user interface and user satisfaction.
iPhone’s incoming call screen underwent significant modernization. Users can make Contact Posters and customize typography for their saved contacts, as well as share their personalized Contact Posters through airdrop. The Contact Poster aims to allow more individual expression and bring a fresh look to receiving calls.
FaceTime will now allow video and audio messages when a call is not available. Apple stated this will enable users to share a moment or idea immediately as it happens, allowing for the other user to view at their own leisure later.
FaceTime now also features Continuity Camera with Apple TV 4k. Users will be able to call on their iPhone and send calls off to their Apple TV. Center Stage will allow users to stay perfectly framed if they move around their space during the call.
iMessages has more efficient search filters with the search bar browsing through words from all saved conversations with friends. Audio messages also automatically transcribed so users can read them instantaneously. Custom stickers with effects can be sent and made from photos.
Two brand new features have been added through iOS17: Check In and StandBy.
Check In is a feature of iMessages that allows users to notify family members or close friends that they have reached their destination. The feature provides other useful information such as battery level, location and cell service status temporarily.
StandBy is another interface improvement that gives users a chance to display basic information while their phone is charging and in landscape. The feature displays glanceable information from a distance like music, calendar, timer or interactable widgets.
iOS 17 is compatible with iPhone SE, second generation or later, to the latest iPhone 15 series launched on Sept. 22. Older iPhone models may not get support for the new iOS update. iPhone 15 demands were weaker than iPhone 15 Pro Max, with most premium users opting for the latter, according to Forbes.
Expert and tech enthusiasts are gravitating towards the 15 Pro Max because it has Apple’s fastest processor, A17 Pro, using a 3-nannometer process. This processor is 10% faster than the outstanding A16 bionic Processor in iPhone 15. The A17 ensures that graphics on screen look marvelous, loading 20% faster than the A16.
Lastly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max carries 7 cameras and replaced the 12-megapixel main sensor camera to one that contains a 48-megapixel sensor. The switch to the latest iPhone would advance the consumer’s photography greatly.
