Senate Meeting: USG passes 2022-2023 budgets

Baruch College’s Undergraduate Student Government met for its 12th Senate meeting of the spring 2022 semester on May 3.
USG presented the proposed 2022-2023 USG Operating Budget of $249,781.66. It is a net increase of $26,596, or 12%, of the 2021-2022 budget. The increase comes from the return of in-person events, inflation and higher accounting costs.
An additional $1,500 was allocated for office supplies, raising the budget to $251,281.60.
The budget passed 18-0-0.
The Programming Budget was later presented with a proposed $312,659. It is a net increase of $33,755, or 12%, of the 2021-2022 budget. The majority of the increase, 89%, comes from the return of Spring Fling and Winter Carnival.

Consult Your Community requested a $1,300 budget. A $1,000 budget was allocated instead, a 98% increase from its previous budget. It passed 17-0-0, with Rep. Sen. Humas Ali abstaining.
Alpha Kappa Psi requested a $6,000 budget. A $4,625 budget was allocated instead, a 32% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
Muslim Student Association requested a $9,375 budget. A $8,700 budget was allocated instead, a 39% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
Cybersecurity Club requested and was allocated a $1,000 budget, a 50% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
Youth Organization for Israel requested a $5,150 budget. A $4,700 budget was allocated instead, a 25% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
Organization of Soviet Students requested a $2,950 budget. A $2,300 budget was allocated instead, a 39% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
50Five Capital requested and was allocated a $1,000 budget, a 93% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
Association of Latino Professionals in America requested a $10,000 budget. An $8,005 budget was allocated instead, a 3% decrease from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
African Students Association requested a $1,295 budget. A $1,190 budget was allocated instead, a 138% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
Mexiculture requested and was allocated a $700 budget, a 40% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
Vietnamese Student Association requested and was allocated a $10,000 budget, an 11% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
Baruch E-Sports Association requested a $7,600 budget. A $5,750 budget was allocated instead, a 38% increase from its previous budget. It passed 18-0-0.
Books and Beyond requested a $1,010 budget. A $1,045 budget was allocated instead, a 132% increase from its previous budget. It passed 16-0-0, with Chair of Arts Leslie Acuapina abstaining.
South Asian Student Association requested a $4,650 budget. A $5,750 budget was allocated instead, a 9% increase from its previous budget. It passed 17-0-0.
