Congratulations on finishing the first full month of the semester! I hope everyone’s had a smooth transition up until now, and here’s where we get the ball rolling.

I, along with our Undergraduate Student Government Secretary Yam-Yu Li, recently attended the Asian American Business Development Center Outstanding 50 Gala to celebrate our very own President S. David Wu for being one of the 50 recipients.

It was a phenomenal event filled with such inspirational and ambitious leaders. Another big congratulations to Wu; we were so honored to be able to be a part of the event.

We also have some new changes and additions to our USG team. In our last couple of Senate Meetings, Jason Galak was nominated and elected for chair of philanthropy and Leslie Aucapina was nominated and elected for chair of arts.

We are incredibly proud and excited to see what they have planned for the upcoming year. I’ve gotten a sneak peek of some of their initiatives and am beyond ready to see them come to life.

Recently, we  held open applications for two representative positions and there was an incredible turnout this year with 15 applicants. Unfortunately, we were only able to vote in two. We want to thank all the candidates once again for showing interest in not just USG, but Baruch’s student body.

In the end, we entered the executive session and came out with the final decision.

Congratulations to Andrew Lu and Anya Ballantyne, our new representative senators. They will officially join the team in the next upcoming senate meeting, and everyone’s thrilled to have them on board.

For anyone interested in joining USG, we have plenty of committees open throughout the year.

We’ve compiled a document with all the committee forms, so feel free to check them out and sign up.

Also, feel free to stop by our Senate Meetings every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. on Zoom.

Clubs are going to start advertising many more events in the upcoming months, so make sure to check out our compiled list of club events, courtesy of our Chair of Clubs and Organizations Snigdha Sarker.

In October, we’ll be having some major events that we encourage you all to join. As Vice President Richard Reyes mentioned in his previous USG report, we have our voter registration event and homecoming coming up.

On Oct. 13, Baruch will be commemorating our brand new Clivner=Field Plaza. The event will be from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Come support and enjoy the dedication ceremony with all of us.
