On Nov. 6, at 5:45 a.m., Wisconsin declared Donald Trump the winner of the state. This tips him over the 270 Electoral College vote mark and makes him the next president of the United States. This inscribes him as the 47th president and the first president to serve non-consecutive terms since former president Grover Cleveland.
This election, according to numerous polls ahead of Nov. 5, was considered to be an air-tight race. Neither candidate was ahead. Until the votes began pouring in.
This race turned out to be far from air-tight. Frankly, Trump dominated on Nov. 5. Not only that, but he also will resume office with a majority in the Senate by multiple seats.
Trump was twice impeached in his past presidency. He has spent numerous hours in courtrooms — numerous hours that he could have spent on the campaign trail — but it was no deterrence to his success in regaining the presidency.
Vice President Kamala Harris put together a phenomenal run. This will not be the end of her. She will be back; there is no doubt about that. But to walk away hours before the election was decided? To walk away from your own election party?
Harris left when she was down in the polls; she showed no fight to gain the highest power in all of the land when it was not in her favor. It was sad to hear an arena go silent as they found out they would not be getting any sort of statement from Harris.
Trump will be president for four more years. Four more years only. Until then, godspeed, goodnight and good luck.
