The Mexican musician, Peso Pluma, arrived at Barclays Center on Oct. 3 ready to take on the sold-out Brooklyn stage for his second headlining tour, “Éxodo.” Pluma’s tour is in support of his “Éxodo” album that was released earlier in June, a full-length studio album comprising 24 songs including various collaborations.
The collaborations in this album would turn out to be a foreshadowing of the various special guests that would accompany him throughout the tour. Entering the concert was chaotic, as doors were supposed to open at 7 p.m. and the concert was supposed to begin at 8:30 p.m. Instead, the doors opened at 8:30 p.m. and the concert started at 9:30 p.m. During this extended wait time, cheers for the artist to come out were heard, along with some complaints.
At 9:30 p.m. the lights dimmed and the Pluma wristbands that were given to the crowd at the entrance lit up in white. Pluma came running on stage alongside his bandmates with “LA DURANGO,” the first song off the “Éxodo” album. Jumping and dancing around, exciting the crowd by waving his arms up and down, his stage dancers soon followed alongside him. The jumbotron screens showcased Pluma in monochrome vision and the sound of applause rang throughout the venue.
Pluma sang songs from his 2023 “Génesis” album in addition to songs from “Éxodo.” As a floating moon moved across the arena, Pluma sang “LUNA.”
The first special guest of the night was Jasiel Nuñez; together they sang their well-known collaborations, “LAGUNAS,” “BIPOLAR,” “Rosa Pastel,” and “ME ACTIVO.” During “LAGUNAS,” Jasiel exclaimed, “¡Qué bonito canta Nueva York!” (“New York sings beautifully” in English.)
Later on, Yng Lvcas was welcomed onstage, joining Pluma to sing their hit collaboration, “La Bebe.” Estevan Plazola joined Pluma for a duet of “HOLLYWOOD.” Eladio Carrión made an appearance for their song, “77,” and Pluma shared the spotlight as Carrión played his hit, “Mbappe.” Ice Spice unexpectedly hit the stage and strutted, performing her song, “Deli.” José Darey Castro from Los Dareyes de la Sierra shared the stage as well with his accordion. He sang his band’s classic, “Hasta el Día de Hoy,” and then their collaboration, “VVS.”
The last special guest of this grand night was Tito Double P, Pluma’s cousin, joining him for several of their hit songs including “DOS DÍAS” and “LA PEOPLE.” Tito ended his appearance alongside Pluma as a violin rang throughout the arena, signaling the commencement of “LA PEOPLE II.”
A major highlight of the night was the staging of “NUEVA VIDA” and “PRC.” Pluma sat down on a chair and took out his own guitar as he sang “NUEVA VIDA,” one of his more sentimental pieces of the night. Belting his heart out, he sang, “Siempre buena vida me dieron mis padres.” (“My parents always gave me a good life” in English.) The crowd sang out dearly, some crying as they held onto their own parents.
During “PRC,” Pluma borrowed the Mexican flag a fan brought as he moved onstage with it while performing, expressing his love for his country, “Arriba Mexico cabrones!”
