Baruch College’s Undergraduate Student Government posted a note from its treasurer on its Instagram stories stating that its email servers are down and the student leaders are not able to receive messages from club leaders on Oct. 3.
The note included a list of frequently asked questions for club leaders to reference in the meantime.
USG executives are not able to receive messages from their USG emails, but they have responded by asking club leaders to direct message USG on Instagram with questions.
The announcement also stated that USG Executive Treasurer Sklya Chan will be monitoring the USG Instagram DMs until the servers are back up.
Club members who send their concerns via DM will be redirected for further assistance. Chan has asked students not to contact her via her Baruch email address unless otherwise directed by a club advisor.
USG noted in its Instagram story that some clubs have not received their memos for events that occurred on Sept. 26 or Oct. 1. As reimbursement forms are due within a week of the event date, many club leaders are at risk of not being reimbursed for those events in a timely manner.
The current reimbursement process for clubs at Baruch requires an approval memo from USG’s executive treasurer in order for club leaders to complete the necessary forms to get reimbursed.
USG oversees all club budgets and approves clubs to use money from their budgets for events. It also handles budget requests, appeals and budget changes which all have strict deadlines.
Without the ability to directly communicate with club leaders, these processes may be further delayed.
USG stated in the treasurer’s note that they will follow up with emails and concerns once the issue is resolved and club leaders should contact their club advisor for immediate concerns.
USG did not immediately respond to The Ticker when asked for a statement.
