Baruch College’s Study Abroad Office held its first Study Abroad Fair of the academic year on Sept. 12.
The event took place from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym at the Newman Vertical Campus Level B2, and welcomed students eager to explore opportunities for international, academic and cultural experiences.
Baruch’s study abroad program encourages global learning and offers cultural exchange to eligible Baruch students. It provides a platform for them to learn about various study abroad opportunities, and fairs held throughout the year allow students to meet with faculty and other program representatives eager to share the benefits of study abroad.
The fair featured informational sessions where students could interact with advisors and alumni who shared personal insights, experiences and the lasting value of study abroad that Baruch College offers to students. It also provided students with essential resources on the specific programs offered through Baruch.
Students interested in participating in these programs were encouraged to visit the study abroad website for detailed information and to check their eligibility to join the program.
The website includes information such as application deadlines, program details and guidance on the application process.
Students have until Oct. 1 to apply for programs during the January intercession or spring semester, and until March 15 for programs during the summer session and fall of the next academic year.
Students enrolled in any of all three schools at Baruch— Weissman, Zicklin and Marxe— are all encouraged to apply for study abroad programs.
Studying abroad presents students with a unique chance to expand their horizons on both academic and personal fronts. Immersing oneself in international experiences can offer an enriching educational opportunity by being exposed to diverse teaching methods and academic viewpoints.
It can also promote personal development and a greater understanding of global issues.
By engaging with new cultures and environments, students cultivate skills like adaptability and cross-cultural communication.
Those seeking additional guidance or those interested in learning more about the study abroad opportunities available may reach out to the program director, Dr. Richard Mitten.
Students may also reach out to the Study Abroad Office or email study.abroad@baruch.cuny.edu to get in touch with staff and explore how studying abroad can fit into one’s academic and career
plans.
